john is a bright and aggressive individual who possesses a strong motivation to learn and excel in his course work. unlike most of his peers, who gained knowledge merely from school lecturing, john would spend a great amount of efforts and time in reading outside articles and textbooks and share his ideas with the class. in addition, as an open- minded individual who never let go any learning experience, john often came to me discussing various questions and problems he encountered in his coursework.

i would like hereby to draw upon an instance that i believe fully exemplifies john’s academic ability. while attending my class he presented an excellent report focusing on the research of the european community (ec), in which he shared with us his careful observations on ec, and proposed a number of innovative suggestions for Chinese Taiwanese industries that wished to gain successful presence in that market. having noticed his superior ability to conduct independent research studies and to support his arguments with logical quantitative analyses, i recommended john to submit his paper to the accounting & statistics quarterly published by the executive yuan of r.o.c.. needless to say, john has acquired very high marks in both of my courses.

the very positive impression made by john has been repeatedly re- enforced by his strong performance in various extracurricular activities. john has managed to earn full confidence from me in his sound managerial potential by demonstrating an intelligence, aggressiveness, and leadership quality in both academic and extracurricular contexts.

in general, i consider john a very promising applicant to your esteemed mba program. i have the least reservation on his potential to succeed in his future educational as well as professional pursuit, and will be more than happy to discuss with you any matters pertaining to this reference letter.

sincerely yours,

jerry smith, ph.d. professor

To whom it may Concern,

I am writing this letter to attest to Pauls skills in language and public relations. In the four years I have known him, I have been consistently impressed with his ability not only to negotiate complex ideas in other languages, but also to relate these things in a personable, conscientious fashion. His manner in these cases is both professional and personal, two qualities which I find particularly valuable in a professional setting. He has personally helped me in professional negotiation for everything from train tickets to contract information, and I have always been able to count on him.

I first met Paul in school, where he was a student at the university at which I taught. He was well-known to most of the westerners in town, who could call from different universities to ask for his help. Sometimes this help involved translation of professional documents, and sometimes it involved personal help in making phone calls. Many of these westerners continue to call him today, even though they live quite far away from him, because they have come to trust him very much. From this foundation in public relations Paul has found positions in various professional capacities and has been highly-valued in each place. He is generally the sort of employee a company finds most valuable in its dealings with both foreign and domestic clients. He puts people at their ease with his language ability and manner, both of which communicate to people that they can relax and simply communicate.I would highly recommend Paul as an employee. His experience and manner are rare and very valuable.

department of the special class gifted for youths university of science andtechnology hefei, anhui 230026, p.r. china july 1, 1998 dear sir or madam:

i take great pleasure in recommending wang yong, one of my favoritestudents, for admission into your distinguished graduate program.

mr. wang was admitted in 1986 at 14 years of age into the special class forthe gifted youths, my universitys unique program that caters to theintellectual needs of unusually talented chinese youngsters. it was a rareprivilege he earned with his nearly impeccable academic performance through theyears of his elementary and secondary school.

he impressed me almost as he entered into my university, a major cradle ofchinas scientific and technological talents. at the time, members of the giftedclass all had to spend half a month studying by themselves the principles ofcalculus and then take an exam so that we could evaluate their self-studycapability. mr. wang scored the highest grade in that exam. he also exhibited akeenly whetted mind during class discussions. to my regret at the time, hisenglish was not as good as his mathematics or physics. but i noticed he made apoint of working especially hard in improving his english during his fiveundergraduate years with us. by now, he seems to be at least as proficient inenglish as most of his former classmates in the gifted class.

in my experience with mr. wang, i was impressed with not only his

extraordinary intelligence but also his ambitions and persistence. i amsure that mr. wang will be an outstanding student in any doctoral program thathe may care to enroll in. so i would like to support him firmly in his questrecommendation into account when considering his application. i would greatlyappreciate it you decide to accept him as he wishes.

wang is an impressive student because he has been forced to overcome thesignificant challenge of a serious illness during his freshman year. when ifirst met wang in my discrete math class, he did not appear to be anythingspecial to me. while his exam scores were good, they were not as high as i wouldnow expect of him. what i didnt know then was that due to his illness. wang wasattempting to take all of the difficult early mathematics courses at one time, including discrete mathematics, advanced mathematics, linear algebra, andpossibilities. while most

students found preparing for just one set of these exams difficult, wangwas overwhelmed by four of them. but in the end, he achieved an impressive scoreon the final exam, which made me conscious of his unusual determination hedemonstrates when confronting difficult challenges.

mr. wangi have often talked about a variety of mathematicscomputer scienceconceptsproblems. during these discussions, i always found him to bedelightfully intelligent. not only does he quickly understand the

conceptsproblems presented to him, he is able to analyze theseproblemspresent solutions. but perhaps most important is that wangs thinking isintensely rigorous. when looking at any question, he carefully scrutinizes itifhe finds any uncertain issues, he clears them up immediately. i believe thiskind of thought is essential to become an excellent computer programmer.

Letters of recommendation are a very important part of the application process. As colleges become more and more sought out from the increasing number of applicants each year, the need to stand out from the competition is also increasing. Below we will provide helpful information on how to write a college recommendation as well as advice for tailoring each letter.

A high school transcript can help tell an admissions office a lot about a candidate, but a college recommendation letter provides an opportunity for them to see the whole person. While recommendation letters are never a bad idea to include in the application, even if the college does not require one, many colleges do necessitate the inclusion of one. Here is some advice to keep in mind when writing a college recommendation letter:

Know the candidate - it may sound obvious, but it is important that you know the candidate well. After all, how can you write a college recommendation letter for a someone you know little about? Recommendations written for candidates with a vague familiarity are often identifiable and can do more harm than good.

How you know the candidate - when you write a college recommendation letter, make sure to include how you know the candidate as well as the length of time you have known that person.

Provide relevant information - be sure to find out the purpose of the recommendation so as to provide relevant information about the candidate and his or her specific qualifications. If the recommendation is to supplement an application, discuss how that person is an appropriate candidate for the college he or she is applying to. Despite its purpose, however, the overall goal of a college recommendation letter is to attest to the capabilities and character of the candidate.

Obtain a rsum - another tip on how to write a collage recommendation letter is to first obtain the students rsum with a listing of his or her GPA, activities, awards, leadership roles, community service, employment experience and special skills. The more information you have about a particular candidate, the more constructive your recommendation can be.

Personalize the letter - to help make the letter more personal, before writing a college recommendation letter, it is important to determine the person to whom the letter should be addressed. If the student is unaware of the name, the letter may begin "Dear Selection Committee."

Proofread the letter - one of the most important tips on how to write a college recommendation letter is making sure to proofread it when finished. A letter containing grammatical errors will appear unprofessional and may leave a negative impression.

Mailing the letter - establish with the student whether the recommendation letter must be mailed in an official envelope from your institution, or if it can be included with the application. If it is to accompany the application, return the letter to the candidate in a sealed envelope.

Determine the deadline - double-check with the student as to the deadline of the college recommendation letter. Ideally, you will be given an adequate amount of time to complete a positive, detailed letter, however, the most important detail is that it is received before the application deadline.

Save the letter - when you have finished writing a recommendation, be sure to save it in order to help make writing the next college recommendation letter easier. The student will likely be applying to more than one school and may ask that you write a separate recommendation for each one. Although it is important that each letter is tailored to the application at hand, select information can be recycled for multiple letters. It is more convenient to tailor the original passage than to repetitively recollect the advice on how to write a college recommendation.

What Colleges Really Want

Colleges place a large emphasis on a students academic ability because what is accomplished in high school is the strongest predictor of their academic success in college. What colleges really want, however, is a win-win situation. They want to admit students who will thrive at their institution, not only for the students benefit, but for their own as well. As more and more students become college-bound, colleges and universities will become increasingly selective, placing more emphasis on the ability to know how to write a college recommendation letter.

As a teacher, counselor, employer or personal acquaintance of a college-bound teen, you may at some point receive a request for help in writing a college recommendation letter. These students are not only placing their trust in you, they are putting you in the unique position to make an impact on whether or not they are admitted to their college of choice. Following this advice on how to write a college recommendation will help to ensure a professional letter and give your candidate a greater likelihood of being accepted into his or her college of choice.

Recently, I have a dream tostudy abroad. Then I search online and find that it is more convenient andsuitable for me to go to New Zealand for study.

First, New Zealand is a multicultural country, which has the most advancededucation in the world. Second, the tuition is lower than other countries’,which I think is mo

As a girl, I like preschool education since I was young. Nowadays, Chineseparents, who want their children to get better education, pay more attention topreschool education. If I study specialized curriculums on preschool education,I will go back China and work hard on preschool education after leavingcollege.

My plan is as follows: first, I plan to study English in language institutefor about a half year in New Zealand. Then, I will study specialized curriculumson preschool education.

I believe I have the ability of study abroad, because I have finished allhigh school curriculums. Besides, my parents both have job and have rich income,so they will support me to finish my study. After finishing my study, I willreturn to my homeland and work on preschool education, so as to realize my lifevalue.

Due to the comprehensiveness of China’s “reform and open” policies, economics plays an increasingly important role in the development of its globalposition. Though more and more companies built, management of companies cannotcatch up with the development of the companies. Management is a burgeoning fieldin China, so I hope I can acquire more modern knowledge on management inEngland.

The roots of my strong interest in business can be traced back to mychildhood. My father was among the first of China’s new breed of modernentrepreneurs. As a young girl, it was inspirational hearing about his businessventures, and meeting the varied and interesting circle of entrepreneurs. Mymother was also involved in business as an accountant, helping him with simplecalculations. And so it was early in my life that I hoped I, also, would somedaybe able to enter the realm of business.

With the time of growing up, I preferred reading books to satisfy mycuriosity. I never ceased to contemplate over the questions I encountered.Subjects on business and management became a special fascination to me and myknowledge of psychology as well as interest in this field was increasingrapidly.

As a high school student in China, I had to concentrate on the CollegeEntrance Examination (CEE), even so, books not related to the exams were neverexcluded from my life. Unfortunately when sitting in the exam in June, 20__, Iwas so nervous that I didn’t score well in the CEE exam. I enrolled in thedepartment of Computer Science in Zhejiang College of Traditional ChineseMedicine. Any attempt to persuade myself to focus on my major turned out to be afailure at the beginning of my college life. After several terms, I realizedthat I would never be interested in being a programmer or an engineer. At thatmoment, I lost my direction and objectives.

My persistence in reading saved me from the dark situation. As a matter offact, I enjoyed reading the books included Encyclopedia American, and some booksabout management by Peter F.Drucker. I began to notice something interesting:Why some companies can produce more than others? Why some company can sell morethan others? Why some companies can build up but others cannot when facing thesame difficulties?

With the questions in my mind, I started to read many relevant books. I waslucky to read the book “Jack: Straight from the Gut”by Jack Welch, in Which JohnA. Byrne makes a clear illustration that the management is important for acompany. When I was a junior, I ran a bookshop by myself near my school. From this, my interpersonal skills and the capacity in business hasbeen greatly developed, definitely I was increasingly interested in what I wasdoing. By December, 20__, I had finally determined to take business managementas my career instead of IT. To accumulate more relevant knowledge, I strived togain more practical work experience in some big companies.

Fortunately, as a senior, I began by conducting an internship in theArchitecture Company in Zhejiang Province. Over six months, I worked as anassistant of the manager to harmonize the relationship between the differentdepartments in this company and to draft some management system, which broadenedmy perspective of management conditions and business performance in differentindustries. The experience showed me that management is much more important thanthat of I thought in big companies. After graduation, I continued my work inthis company. In May, 20__, the company offered me an opportunity to participatein an training program held by a famous management school. Through in-depthdiscussions with teachers and students in the classes, they all encouraged me topursue my future career in management field because of my intellectual abilityand the brand new ideas I mentioned.

During the short period of training, I realized that pursuing a higherdegree in management is a wise choice for me now. Lancaster, with its excellencein management, represents the perfect fit for my needs. In your challengingenvironment, I can build the required foundation of knowledge related tomanagement to achieve my goals. I am firmly convinced that your admission willbe my first step of success. With this in mind, I hereby submit my application, and await your favorable reply.
