一、用餐前

(1)入座后，不要急于打开您的餐巾。第一个打开餐巾的人应该是主人，这个动作宣布晚宴正式开始。但自助餐除外，开始吃自助餐时便可展开餐巾。

(2)请注意不要拿错其他人的餐巾。

在较正式的宴会中，餐巾通常是折叠好放在位子中间的装饰盘上的。

如果餐巾布不是放在中间的盘子上，它就会在您的左边，而右边的餐巾是属于坐在您右边的客人的。

有时候餐巾也会放在杯子中，此时您的餐巾就是在右边的杯子中。

(3)用柔和的动作展开餐巾，不要太用力或摇晃餐巾。以餐巾的大小决定展开餐巾的幅度吃西餐时如何优雅地使用餐巾吃西餐时如何优雅地使用餐巾。

对于较正式宴会所提供的较大块的餐巾，可将其对半展开放在大腿上。

二、用餐中

(1)餐巾是为了预防调味汁滴落，弄脏衣物。但是，最主要的还是用来擦拭嘴巴。进餐过程中不小心弄得满嘴油渍时，需要用餐巾擦干净嘴巴。

注意：

吃了油腻的食物后满嘴油渍，若以这副尊容与人说话，委实不雅，所以应适时使用餐巾擦干净嘴巴。

喝酒时会把油渍留在玻璃杯上，很不雅观，因此喝酒前一定要用餐巾擦拭干净嘴巴。

涂了口红的女士需在喝酒前用餐巾略擦一擦，避免唇印沾在酒杯上。

用餐巾布擦嘴时避免动作过大，正确而优雅的.使用方法是轻轻沾擦。

(2)餐巾布是用来擦嘴的，所以不要用它来擦脸或擦餐具。如果需要擦汗或擦餐具，您可以用纸巾。

(3)餐巾是可以弄脏的，如不想将餐巾弄脏而取出自己的手帕或面纸使用，这是违反用餐礼仪的。

(4)将鱼骨头或水果的籽吐出时，可利用餐巾遮住嘴，直接吐在餐巾内，再将餐巾向内侧折起。

(5)宴席中最好避免中途离席，如非要暂时离席，一般做法有两种：

用盘子或刀子压住餐巾的一角，让它从桌沿垂下，当然脏的那一面朝内侧才雅观。

把餐巾叠好放在椅子上，若椅子装有软垫，餐巾有油渍的一面应朝上。

三、用餐毕

(1)用餐完毕时，把餐巾布放回桌上的动作也是由主人先做的，这表示晚宴结束吃西餐时如何优雅地使用餐巾西式快餐。

(2)餐毕先将腿上的餐巾拿起，随意叠好(不用叠得叠得整齐，单页不能将餐巾弄得皱巴巴的)，再把餐巾放在您的餐盘的左侧，然后起身离座。如果站起来后才甩动或折叠餐巾，就不合乎礼节了。

(3)如果餐后还有咖啡供应，餐巾当然继续留在大腿上，直到用完再把餐巾放回桌上。

注：如果发现餐巾上有餐巾环的存在，取出餐巾环后应该将其放在您座位的左上方。进餐结束后，拿起餐巾，穿过餐巾环，并将餐巾的一头朝向餐桌的中心位置放好。
