请柬不同于一般书信。

一般书信都是因双方不便或不宜直接交谈而采用的交际方式。请柬却不同，即使被请者近在咫尺，也须送请柬，这主是表示对客人的尊敬，也表明邀请者对此事的郑重态度。

请柬在语言上除要求简洁、明确外，还要措词文雅、大方和热情。

请柬书写格式比较简单，以下建议可供参考。

(1)在封面上写“请柬”(请贴)二字。

(2)抬头写被邀请者(个人的姓名或单位)名称。

(3)交待活动内容，如开座谈会、联欢晚会、过生日等;交待举行活动的时间和地点，如果是请看戏或其它表演还应将入场券附上。

(4)结尾。如“致以——敬礼”、“顺致——崇高的敬意”等。
