"All I know about leadership I learned from . . ." What items could a person use to describe leadership qualities?

Inspired by the student council advisors at my high school.

Student council was a big part of my life in high school. I have participated in it since my frst year of high school. When I frst joined， I was quiet， na?ve， and unwilling to participate in many activities. I was scared to meet new people and afraid to apply myself. This all began to change. Half way through my frst year in student council， one of the advisors can up to me and asked why I did not participate that much. I did not have an answer for her and did not know how to respond. After this， I began to think of an answer. I became frustrated and decided to change. I started to show up at events and had a great time. I realized I loved this and wanted to start leading these activities. In my sophomore， junior， and now my senior year of high school， I asserted myself and took on a strong leadership role in student council. I did not fgure out the answer to why I was so reserved until this year with the help of this question.

When I looked up leadership in the dictionary， it said that it was the capacity to lead and the act or instance of leading. These are two very broad defnitions of leadership. Many people have different notions of what this word actually means. When I was challenged to use different items to describe what leadership actually is， I thought this was going to be a hard and obnoxious task. What could I learn from comparing leadership to a stuffed animal or a rubber chicken? But when I sat down to come up with a couple of answers， I realized that leadership could be compared to almost anything a person wants.

All I know about leadership I learned from a calculator. A calculator can add everything together to come up with the best answer. It can delet e what is unnecessary and only include what is important. It can solve any type of problem. These are all important equalities a leader has to have. A leader has to be able to add all of the ideas together to make the best possible plan. Leaders have to know how to decipher the good and the bad out of an idea. They have to be versatile and know how to deal with different types of issues.

All I know about leadership I learned from a ball. A ball is able to bounce back up after it is dropped. It is round and has no creases. A ball can be thrown back and forth to different people. All of these qualities are also leadership qualities. A leader has to be ready for every situation that is thrown at him or her. He or she has to be able to bounce back from any setbacks and never dwell on the past. Leaders have to exhibit many qualities and never be closed-minded about a situation. A leader must be able to delegate when he or she cannot get the work done. They have to trust everyone they lead to be able to "catch the ball" and keep a project rolling.

This activity made me realize that being a leader is so much more than just having authority and having the ability to take control of a situation. A leader has to be trusting of all the people he or she leads and， leaders must be able to combine ideas into one encompassing idea. They cannot sit in the background and watch events happen; they have to jump in and be involved. They should not delegate all their responsibilities away.

Leadership is more than what the dictionary says it is.

I learned through all of this that I have many of these qualities.

I have the ability to solve problems， lead through adversity， and be versatile. From answering this question， I realized that I could lead effectively， even if my leadership style is different from other individuals. When I joined student council in my frst year of high school， I did not have these qualities because I was never put into a situation where I had to lead. I was too reserved to try. When I tried， I learned that I could succeed in this. I did not realize until I answered this question about leadership. I was never able to see that being a leader is not just about taking control of a group and telling everyone what to do When I was a freshman， I thought leadership was this. I did not know that did not have to be forceful and strict. I stereotyped a leader then. Thisis where I went wrong. A leader is about being yourself and never letting anyone change you. I thought I had to change to be a good leaderOnly when I expanded my comfort zone did I realize this was not trueIt only took three years and a silly question/game to fgure this out.

As I was finishing college， my mother had both of her hips replaced withartificial ones because all of the cartilage in her hip joints had worn away andit was very painful for her to walk. I found it fascinating that engineers，orthopedic surgeons， and biologists had all worked together to design theseartificial joints that completely transform. peoples lives by giving them backpain-free mobility， and I knew at that moment that this was an area about whichI wanted to learn more. Could I put myself in the life-threatening working environment? Could I sacrifice my life for the benefits of others? Some people may laugh at my crazy question. To me, that is a serious question I have come a long way to find my answer. “I am not sure whether it is worth to answer”; “What is the true meaning of that question?”

When I was a young child, I watched a soap opera that was about court. I was deeply impressed by the judge’s calmness and the lawyer’s eloquence and resource that were showed in this opera. From then on, I hoped to study law some day. Fortunately, I performed well in entrance examination and got enrolled into __ University. Then I chose law as my major without hesitation. At university, I studied hard and got GPA 3.4. This summer, I had my internship in counselor department in __ Group Co Ltd which was involved in a business contract dispute, which was submitted to China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission for arbitration. As a representative of the requested applicant, I took part in the evidence collection in the early arbitration stage and clearly explained why the 5% balance of goods was not paid on time. After knowing the whole case, I visited my teacher, an Arbitration Law professor, and listened to her opinions. Realizing the counterpart didn’t completely implement their contract duty, I gave reasons as follows: First, the counterpart company didn’t mention bearing issue, which caused that the delivered machines couldn’t be put into the plant because of the disqualification of workshop. Thus overhaul was necessary, which delayed production and resulted loss. Based on these reasons, the counterpart didn’t completely carry out its duty, so our party did not pay the balance on time. During this time, I found out the evidence and pictures that attested counterpart did not give reasonable suggestion and service, and made a statement in the court. Finally, the arbitration turned out that counterpart compensated our loss, in which the arbiters invoked the reasons that I stated. They had a panel made up of 3 lawyers and 5 company representatives as agents while we just had 3 persons—two lawyers and me. Under such condition, I was able to cooperate with them and clearly stated my opinions without any nervousness, which got their respect. This matter greatly inspired my enthusiasm on study.

In addition, I took part in the contact draft in several companies. In the process, when I met a lot of problems, I often turned to my teachers for help, which made good impression on them. As I cherished each practice, I studied my specialty and English hard. With effective study method and diligence, I did well both in English and law, which helped me a lot to get scholarship every year. On the other hand, my practice inspired me to study. In practice, I exercised my legal knowledge. I also realize the big gap between theory and its application—sometimes I have master the rules but I didn’t know how to use it in actual case. My practice experiences have not only strengthened what I learned but have supplied new knowledge for me, which is good for my future study and career.

In my study and practice, I admired outstanding lawyers’ eloquence and jumping thinking more and more. However, in China, most of lawyers come from theory study and those who can perform well in practice are insufficient. Moreover, after the China’s entrance to WTO, there are a lot of problems with Chinese law. I think, my internship experience is not enough. In practice, I could combine substantive law with procedural law to analyze case, but I still feel my theoretical foundation is not solid enough. What’s more, comparably speaking, the chances that I have to initiatively study and practice are not a lot. Thereby, I am eager to study further abroad to know more about foreign law, thoughts and lawyer career so that I am able to stand out in fierce competition.

确定学校后就可以在提交申请材料，学校的通常都会有完善的申请流程，按照提示和要求来就好。学校收到递交材料后如果有不完善的地方仍然会通过邮件形式与家长沟通，所以记得时常看看邮箱以及垃圾邮件箱。

3. 等待面试通知

从申请到收到面试通知这个过程会比较漫长，至少一个月，两个月也完全有可能。

因为，泰国人办事速度较慢，申请的学生越来越多，而招生办通常就是两三个负责人，她们每天有接待不完的访问者以及上百封邮件要回复。

所以如果怠慢你是非常正常的，建议勤发邮件沟通以防被疏漏。准备的这期间可以好好帮助孩子准备面试。低龄儿童面试对英文的要求不高，能简单的交流。

但是一年级以后的需要有一定的基础，面试包括听说读甚至写，比想象中要难。所以一定要有英文基础。(但各个学校都存在不同程度的差异，所以看你选择的是哪个学校)

4. 面试结果

参加学校面试后，不会立马有结果，通常等上一个月两个月都很正常。所以建议你至少提前半年开始办理申请。泰国开学时间一般都在八月份，一个学年分四个学期，平均两个月为一学期。

5. 交建校费和学费并保留收费单

如果面试成功学校会学校会通知你按时缴费(建校费和学费，学费可以按一学年交也可以按一学期交)学校收到款项会给你邮寄收费单据和签证所需的推荐材料(单据和签证材料都得保存好，这个后续去大使馆办签证要用到)。

wang is an impressive student because he has been forced to overcome thesignificant challenge of a serious illness during his freshman year. when ifirst met wang in my discrete math class, he did not appear to be anythingspecial to me. while his exam scores were good, they were not as high as i wouldnow expect of him. what i didnt know then was that due to his illness. wang wasattempting to take all of the difficult early mathematics courses at one time,including discrete mathematics, advanced mathematics, linear algebra, andpossibilities. while most

Before starting the program, I, together with myteam, made a detailed plan covering the schedule, materials, and equipment. Thefirst step of our work is the design of the reducer. The design plan is asfollows: (1) Set down the blue print. (2) Complete 3-D solid model with Pro/Esoftware. (3) Finite-element analysis with ANSYS software. (4) Assemblingsimulation by using Pro/E. (5) Complete the 2-D draft of part and assembly.After two-week design work, we stepped to the next work, manufacture of theproduct. With the aid of the technique of computer, we plan the manufacturingprocess of every part. And then, all parts were made with various machine toolssuch as C lathe, wire electrical discharge machine, vertical machining center,and so on. Finally, we had toassembly all parts to the harmonic gear reducer,and test-drove it for many times. With five-week unremitting efforts, wesucceeded in the project of harmonic gear reducer and obtained the highestpraise. This special experience makes it very helpful for my further study.Firstly, I find the connection between theory and practice. Textbooks couldhardly cover everything, therefore, if we want to learn more, we should pursueevery opportunity to have practices. Meanwhile, I experienced the importance andmightiness of cooperation. In the project, we divided ourselves into severalparts, not only doing one’s own work well, but also cooperating with each otherharmoniously.

Another case worthy mentioning is my design project for graduation,“Manufacturing and Performance of Electroplated CBN Tools”. The main objectiveof this project is the manufacturing of the electroplated CBN (Cubic BoronNitride) wheels and the research of its performance when grinding theheat-resisted steel. I had completed three steps of task. Firstly, I took chargeof the manufacturing of electroplated CBN wheels, covering the following work:selecting electroplating solution, computing various electroplating parameterssuch as electrical current and temperature, adhering CBN to the tool base byelectroplating a nickel layer. After these basic preparations, I had to do thesecond part of the research work to compare grinding abilities of electroplatedCBN wheels with those of other wheels such as SiC wheels, Al2O3 wheels etc. Thispart of the work needs the researcher’s highly particularity and staidness. Idid the detailed work as follows: (1) Grind heat-resisted steel with variouswheels in the same grinding conditions. (2) Record data and compute the grindingratio of various wheels. (3) Measure the surface roughness of the heat-resistedsteel ground by various wheels. (4) Observe dulling and pullout of abrasivegrains of various wheels by using optical microscope. In this part, we canconclude that electroplated wheels have far better grinding abilities than otherwheels, by comparing parameters, such as grinding ratio, surface roughness etc.The final assignment of the project is to find out the most suitable parametersof grinding heat-resisted steel with electroplated CBN wheels, through comparingthe grinding ratio and surface roughness of heat-resisted steel ground indifferent grinding parameters. By investigating the attributes of electroplatedCBN wheels and concluding their practical grinding parameters, this project isvery important in promoting the application of them.

China’s unique advantage of labor force predicts the resplendent future ofits Mechanical Engineering, especially the manufacture, and it is our beliefthat this day will come soon. On the other hand, there are so many experiencedtechnicians in China, however, with the absence of advanced experts manyadvanced producing method cannot be used in practical yield. When I worked asintern in some factories, I found that most of them were still using facilitieswhich were used in America about thirty years ago. As a child I often accompanied my father to his small coin shop and spenthours watching him work. When I was older, I sometimes set up displays, waitedon customers, and even balanced the books.
