The celts are very afraid of the night of October 31, because they feel like theres a bunch of evil souls lurking everywhere. They set fire to their home to let evil spirits leave their homes. (the last untranslated paragraph was that the flames could frighten the ghost away.) They believed Samhain had called the dead, and they believed that Samhain would turn the dead into something else, like a cat. The celts will be disguising their evil spirits with terrible disguises. (this is the prototype for Halloween.)

Then Rome took over the Celtic lands and put the Roman holiday together with the Celtic Samhain festival on October 31, and it was now Halloween.

Days and days past, Im not a child any longer. But I still remember that Halloween, 31st October 20xx. That was Saturday. I went to study English with an American girl named Debby as usual. We had 5 students altogether. Before that week, Debby had already told us to learn something about Halloween ourselves. On that day, Debby spent an hour describing this American festival for us, such as “trick or cheat”, pumpkin and even, she took a pumpkin with her. First she took out a finished pumpkin lantern. That was really beautiful and ugly, we liked it so much. Then she taught us how to make a pumpkin lantern by ourselves. We each held a small knife, learnt to cut and draw something on that pumpkin.

Finally, we made it and put a short candle into it. That was truly happy. And the most surprising thing was that the lantern was a present for that days super student. Who will that be? My god! That was me! Do you know how excited I was then? I held it, jumping and shouting. That was the most unforgettable day to me. And I will not forget it, never!

花灯，元宵节每年的必备物品，而近年来，我却很少提了，因为现在的花灯都是那种电子类的，有点小孩子气。今年，我又准备从新提起花灯，因为，这个花灯是我自己的做的!

大家应该也亲身体验过吧?如果没有体验过，那就跟我一起来吧!

材料：高粱秆、塑料纸、小绳5根或者是穗(小绳是那种五颜六色的，是编制花的，穗是中国结下面的一根一根的红线)皱纹纸两张、胶布、竹签、小钉、纸板、蜡烛

步骤一：首先找几根大小相同的高粱秆，接着在高粱秆的十厘米处弯下，以此类推，然后用竹签串起来，拼合成你想要的形状后，用小钉固定。

步骤二：用塑料纸在你拼成的形状上包装起来。

步骤三：把皱纹纸裁开，然后再把花灯包装的漂漂亮亮。(要全部都包好哦，之所以要两张，是因为两种不同颜色的包装起来比较好看，如果只有一种的话，也不是不可以，只是有些单调)

步骤四：把纸板裁成跟花灯底面完全相同的形状，然后用竹签或胶布固定上。

步骤五：其实，这已经成了一个花灯，剩下的是装饰品。用穗或小绳捆绑在一起，在纸板上打个小洞，穿上，再用胶布之类的黏东西粘结实。然后你可以再离刚才打的小洞不远的距离再打一个，这样可以固定蜡烛。

这样一个花灯就完成了，因为我的表达能力不是太好，所以有点嘴里半截，肚里半截，请见谅，下面一个小知识送给大家，以补我的缺憾。

搓好元宵，开煮了。小元宵们，像调皮的乒乓球一样“跑进”煮沸的水里，等它们浮上来后，外婆就快速的拿勺子一撩，一个个玲珑可爱的小元宵，在水中游来游去，让我垂涎三尺。舀起一个，迫不及待的咬了一口，里面浓香的芝麻盐顺着嘴角流了下来，“好烫啊!”我不禁大声喊道，嘴巴和舌头被烫得麻酥酥的，似乎没有了知觉和味觉。“慢慢吃，没人和你抢。”外婆仍然慈祥的看着我，我舀起元宵，使劲吹了半天，再次送进“身负重伤”的嘴中，甜甜的芝麻和糯糯的米粉非常好的融合在一起，即使咽了下去，但嘴里依然留着芝麻的喷香，让人有想吃第二口的冲动，正当我使劲的嚼着时，突然觉得牙齿碰到一个很硬的东西，我吐了出来，是一个5毛钱硬币!外婆说“琦琦吃到幸福元宵了，就会年年幸福。”听说，这是外婆那里的习俗，吃到钱，就意味着来年会快快乐乐，幸福安康。

亲人做的食物，一向是最美味的，因为里面包含着他们对我的爱与关心。每当我看到元宵，就会想起我的外婆，这时，我就会不自觉的拿起电话，问候一下我的外婆：“阿婆，今天你开心吗?”

正月十五的晚上，妈妈带我去看焰火晚会，在去俱乐部广场的路上，熙熙攘攘的人群把我和妈妈淹没了。大路两边高高地挂起一串串的红灯笼，给节日增添了喜庆的气氛。

广场上真是人山人海，主席台上锣鼓声阵阵，俱乐部正门上方是“开泰三羊留吉去，闹春灵猴送福来”的春联，正中挂着金猴托“福”。广场东半边是小朋友们表演的歌舞，西半边老年人正在扭秧歌，小朋友们的精彩表演赢得片片掌声，老爷爷老奶奶夸张幽默的动作逗得大家哈哈大笑……

我看得正入迷，忽然一道雪亮的瀑布从天而降，原来是广场上空倒挂的烟花被点燃了，接着地上的火树也开出了五彩夺目的花。半空中是“银河落九天”，地上是“火树银花不夜天”，真好比人间仙境一样!忽然不远处又传来“咚”的一声巨响，一个礼花腾空而起，在空中绽放开一大朵五颜六色的花，哇，真是太美了!礼花弹一个接一个地飞上天，又在天空中变幻成各种形状：有的是杨柳垂下万丝绦，有的是蝴蝶振翅翩翩舞，更奇妙的是有的礼花弹在空中变出了一串串红灯笼，然后随风飘飘悠悠飞向远方。
