"All I know about leadership I learned from . . ." What items could a person use to describe leadership qualities?

Inspired by the student council advisors at my high school.

Student council was a big part of my life in high school. I have participated in it since my frst year of high school. When I frst joined， I was quiet， na?ve， and unwilling to participate in many activities. I was scared to meet new people and afraid to apply myself. This all began to change. Half way through my frst year in student council， one of the advisors can up to me and asked why I did not participate that much. I did not have an answer for her and did not know how to respond. After this， I began to think of an answer. I became frustrated and decided to change. I started to show up at events and had a great time. I realized I loved this and wanted to start leading these activities. In my sophomore， junior， and now my senior year of high school， I asserted myself and took on a strong leadership role in student council. I did not fgure out the answer to why I was so reserved until this year with the help of this question.

When I looked up leadership in the dictionary， it said that it was the capacity to lead and the act or instance of leading. These are two very broad defnitions of leadership. Many people have different notions of what this word actually means. When I was challenged to use different items to describe what leadership actually is， I thought this was going to be a hard and obnoxious task. What could I learn from comparing leadership to a stuffed animal or a rubber chicken? But when I sat down to come up with a couple of answers， I realized that leadership could be compared to almost anything a person wants.

All I know about leadership I learned from a calculator. A calculator can add everything together to come up with the best answer. It can delet e what is unnecessary and only include what is important. It can solve any type of problem. These are all important equalities a leader has to have. A leader has to be able to add all of the ideas together to make the best possible plan. Leaders have to know how to decipher the good and the bad out of an idea. They have to be versatile and know how to deal with different types of issues.

All I know about leadership I learned from a ball. A ball is able to bounce back up after it is dropped. It is round and has no creases. A ball can be thrown back and forth to different people. All of these qualities are also leadership qualities. A leader has to be ready for every situation that is thrown at him or her. He or she has to be able to bounce back from any setbacks and never dwell on the past. Leaders have to exhibit many qualities and never be closed-minded about a situation. A leader must be able to delegate when he or she cannot get the work done. They have to trust everyone they lead to be able to "catch the ball" and keep a project rolling.

This activity made me realize that being a leader is so much more than just having authority and having the ability to take control of a situation. A leader has to be trusting of all the people he or she leads and， leaders must be able to combine ideas into one encompassing idea. They cannot sit in the background and watch events happen; they have to jump in and be involved. They should not delegate all their responsibilities away.

Leadership is more than what the dictionary says it is.

I learned through all of this that I have many of these qualities.

I have the ability to solve problems， lead through adversity， and be versatile. From answering this question， I realized that I could lead effectively， even if my leadership style is different from other individuals. When I joined student council in my frst year of high school， I did not have these qualities because I was never put into a situation where I had to lead. I was too reserved to try. When I tried， I learned that I could succeed in this. I did not realize until I answered this question about leadership. I was never able to see that being a leader is not just about taking control of a group and telling everyone what to do When I was a freshman， I thought leadership was this. I did not know that did not have to be forceful and strict. I stereotyped a leader then. Thisis where I went wrong. A leader is about being yourself and never letting anyone change you. In the past， I have had the experience of working in settings where the people and the corporate cultures of the companies were all different. I have found that there is a great difference in the both the behaviors of people and of their organizations， depending on whether they are state-owned enterprises (SOEs)， large multinational firms， or small to medium sized foreign enterprises. One simple example is that of the ability of an employee to act independently without direct instructions from his or her boss. In many Chinese organizations， acting without direct instructions is considered a form of disrespect towards the supervisor， who is generally offended by such behavior. In my experience and research， such organizations tend to have low operating efficiency with the employees losing their innate ability to take the initiative.

By studying Drama, we can become a variety of people, trapped within one single mind, all trying to be freed and each with their own personality and poison. Humanity has helped Drama so much to produce narrative of such calibre, and characters of such depth and poise – characters, which can be as sweet and innocent, or can take the more disgusting side of what being a human is, being as evil as what thought possible

Performance Art explores the whole range of human emotion and can produce tremendous performances and visual experiences and with Drama, in particular, we can go further than flesh and blood and express ourselves as somebody else and take on this ‘mask’. The most profound thing I have found when studying Drama is that we can become any person in the entire world, and still be us

I have always had a love for the performing arts since I can remember; for there has never really been anything else I have ever wanted to do apart from act. But acting is not just a subject to study people, narratives or social issues – we can discover so many things about ourselves, why we perform a character this way: is it because this person is so much like us? There have been numerous qualities I have discovered about myself while participating in drama. In teaching, I have learn how to really connect with people and help them to explorer what their feelings produce and more notably, how we learn about others, about a single person just by the way they say a monologue

Teaching has been a great experience for me because it has given me the time to evaluate my own performance and teaching skill, learning to become that character just a little but more. This has also been enhanced by the performances I have taken part in, learning to work together in teams to realise the dream of the narration and the vision of the director (for nothing really exists without the vision or image)

While experiencing other aspects of the Performing Arts, I have found that is has increased my performance skill on whole and expended my knowledge on the performance world greatly, Dance, Art and English all focusing on similar issues such as the Commedia dell’arte, Henrik Ibsen, Physical Theatre and Movements and philosophies. These subjects have greatly complemented my time in Drama, and increased my confidence and ability in being a performer. Being involved in 5 consecutive school productions, 2 amateur productions, teaching experience and a student has really influence me concerning the determination I will put into a career in Drama and Acting, and just working with these people and directors have really bettered me in the way I act, see myself and carry on with my life. I know that I can offer the performing arts the time, the expense and the spark that it deserves. The educational model that is centered aroundthe cognitive and intellectual instruction has been seriously questioned.Greater attention has been devoted to the cultivation of well-developedpersonality and to the ontological status of the individual in education. Suchissues as the internal studies of education science, scientific decision-makingin education, and meta-education have also been increasingly emphasized upon.There have also been innovations in educational research methodology. Thetendency has been to combine modern technology with humanistic researchcategories and with naturalistic research categories, and to organicallyintegrate qualitative descriptions with quantitative descriptions. It is alsoimportant to carry out educational experimentations in which educationalpredictions are complemented by educational feedbacks. Both the complexity ofeducation and the complexity of human individuals have made the comprehensiveapplication of diverse educational approaches necessary. Those new horizons arewhat fascinate me.

In view of the following qualifications that I have acquired, I believethat I will acquit myself satisfactorily in the prospective Ph.D. program ineducation that I am currently endeavoring to apply for. 去这些美丽的地方是我小时侯梦想。有优秀的教师和先进的教学设备以及先进的教育理念。于是从上高中开始我就定下了将来去日本留学的想法。

20x年2月底我向家里说明了我想去日本留学的意愿。在当时就得到了家人的许可。于是从20x年的3月份开始我到x日语培训学校学习日语，平常的上课时间我正常到学校学习高中的课程到了，周末就上x日语培训班去学习日语，到现在为止我的日语水平已达到使用最基本的日常用语和进行简单的阅读的程度。日本以后，打算先到语言学校学习。为自己将来进一步的深造做好语言上的准备。

在此基础上，根据本人的个人喜好和特长，想在日本的大学学习物流管理。日本是个经济文化繁荣发达的国家，尤其改革开放以来，中日两国经济文化艺术的交流更加深入。当我学有所成回国后，将致力于家乡的经济发展，用在日本所学的先进的管理方去经营自己家乡的企业。也愿意在日友好中日文化经济交流方面贡献自己的聪明才智。

当然，选择_并不仅仅是由于_无可比拟的优越性，还有一个原因便是自身的性格因素。我是一个活泼开朗、阳光率直的女孩，对于新鲜的事物总是充满了好奇，喜欢在各种各样的挑战中不断超越自己。我爱音乐从黑白琴键下淙淙流出的写意，也爱篮球场上行云流水的酣畅淋漓。所以在高中时，我担任班中的文艺委员、学校的音乐社社长以及女子篮球队队长。虽然我是女生，但我对电脑也有着非同寻常的喜爱，在初中毕业后的暑假，我特意去了电脑学校学习了VisualBasic编程语言。在很小的时候，我就能掌握比同龄人多很多的字词。凭借着语言天赋，我又在假期中学习了大学韩语教材的第一册。对我来说学习永远是件快乐的事，因为我总能在其中体味到那种不断充实自己、超越自己的满足感。

我是一个很爱玩也很会玩的女孩。但无论在玩的时候多么无拘无束，一到了学习时，会马上静下心来，心无旁骛地投入到学习中，从小学到高中，一直成绩优异，从不偏科。而在所有的学科中，我最倾心的是数学。我喜欢在数字、符号、字幕之间寻找那些微小的规律;喜欢在各种各样的图形中搜寻出各个部分的关系;我喜欢遇到难题时的棋逢对手之感;喜欢攻克难题后“百万军中取上将首级”的豪迈之感。虽然从未学习过奥数，但我仍在初中时获得了“希望杯”数学邀请赛的三等奖，以及高中时全国数学联赛的二等奖。

我喜欢钻研问题时那种专注、纯净的感觉。我相信，只有_才是能让求知之鹰自由翱翔的朗朗晴空。

我是一个喜欢热闹的人，我总喜欢和同学们聚在一起谈论身边的大事小事，也会一起讨论一些很复杂的问题，但更多的是一起畅想未来，每当这时我们都会笑得很开心。其实我是一个特别喜欢笑的女孩，因为我坚信笑容可以给我的朋友们带来快乐，而我自己也在同时收获到快乐。所以我爱笑，就算遇到挫折也选择用这样的态度来迎接，以给自己更多的信心。也就是因为爱笑，同学们有时会说我像个傻瓜，不过我从未介意过，因为我希望我的朋友都快乐。

在学习上，我态度端正，曾担任学习委员和语文课代表，并且获得了许多荣誉。在生活中，因为我的笑让我与同学更团结了，也因此在小学一直担任班长，升入高年级后开始担任大队委、大队长，多年获得“三好学生”、“优秀班干部”，这些荣誉是我今生难忘的

我最喜欢的运动是游泳，我觉得在水里可以让我的头脑更清醒，所以无论是酷夏还是寒冬，只要有机会我就泡在水里。我也喜欢听音乐并且涉猎的范围很广，从通俗音乐到交响乐都有我喜欢的，之所以喜欢听音乐大概是因为我觉得这样可以让我的心静下来吧。

考试失利或遇到烦心事时我都会借此来舒缓压力。我还喜欢写随笔和涂鸦，把自己的开心或不快写出来、画出来，有时也会义愤填膺地写上一篇文章评论当下的新闻和一些社会现象。

我自认是一个爱玩的人，但对学习还是很认真的。我感觉自己是一个比较有自制力的人，知道什么时候该学习，也知道学习时不能分心，并且能遵守它。可我不觉得自己是人们通常所说的“书呆子”--只是一心扑在学习上，而不注重与别人交往。

所以我有很多朋友，我们一起学习，也约定一起向目标努力。同时我的外向性格也理所当然使我拥有了对外界强烈的好奇心和探索欲望，这也让我的眼界更加开阔。长得越大，懂得越多，我的探索欲望也越强烈，它驱使着我不停地向未知世界“进攻”，同时我也收获到学习的快乐。

我每天上学都要经过西电，校园里树木很多，我经常能闻到绿树青草的香味，而一旁古朴的教学楼更让这个校园显得优雅，久而久之我也就对这所伫立在闹事之中却能保持它原有气息的高校产生了浓厚的兴趣。后来，我开始查看有关电子科技大学的资料。

我渐渐了解了关于这所高校的历史沿革、办学理念和学科设置等一系列情况。我知道了电子科技大学是以信息与电子学科为主，工、理、管、文多学科协调发展的全国重点大学，是国家“211工程”立项建设的重点高校之一。而且学校汇聚了一支政治素质优良、学术水平高、结构合理的教师队伍。最让我感到兴奋的是“神五”、“神六”飞船副总设计师杨宏等一大批IT行业领军人物和技术骨干原来都是电子科技大学培养出来的。

看到这些，我情不自禁地笑了起来，与其说是为陕西有如此好的高校而高兴，还不如说是为自己找到了目标而高兴。特别是西电的通信工程专业吸引了我，对宇宙飞船和神秘的外太空充满好奇的我，希望自己也能像杨宏老师那样为航天事业做出贡献。

的确，从那时起我就决定不管结果怎样，都要以电子科技大学为目标奋斗。

我深知确定了目标就要为之而努力，否则一切都是徒劳的，但我有时也会对大学的生活充满想象：我想象着与大学里的同学一起生活的那种快乐;想象着与教授们一起探讨问题时的那种学习氛围;想象着丰富多彩的社会实践活动……而现在，为了我的目标和我所幻想的一切美好我必须更加刻苦地学习。

但在众多的优秀学生之间，我常常会感到力不从心，甚至是自卑，这是我的一大缺点。但在成长的过程中我一直在努力克服它，并且我也认识到唯有踏踏实实、勤奋拼搏才是通向成功的路。
