Performance Art explores the whole range of human emotion and can produce tremendous performances and visual experiences and with Drama, in particular, we can go further than flesh and blood and express ourselves as somebody else and take on this ‘mask’. The most profound thing I have found when studying Drama is that we can become any person in the entire world, and still be us

I have always had a love for the performing arts since I can remember; for there has never really been anything else I have ever wanted to do apart from act. But acting is not just a subject to study people, narratives or social issues – we can discover so many things about ourselves, why we perform a character this way: is it because this person is so much like us? There have been numerous qualities I have discovered about myself while participating in drama. In teaching, I have learn how to really connect with people and help them to explorer what their feelings produce and more notably, how we learn about others, about a single person just by the way they say a monologue

Teaching has been a great experience for me because it has given me the time to evaluate my own performance and teaching skill, learning to become that character just a little but more. This has also been enhanced by the performances I have taken part in, learning to work together in teams to realise the dream of the narration and the vision of the director (for nothing really exists without the vision or image)

While experiencing other aspects of the Performing Arts, I have found that is has increased my performance skill on whole and expended my knowledge on the performance world greatly, Dance, Art and English all focusing on similar issues such as the Commedia dell’arte, Henrik Ibsen, Physical Theatre and Movements and philosophies. These subjects have greatly complemented my time in Drama, and increased my confidence and ability in being a performer. I am also part of my school track and field team.Being the fastest sprinter in the school since 11th grade the 100m, 200m and400m races are my specialty even though I still pursue long distance running. Inmy spare time I explore and master the computer as I am conversant with a VisualBasic Programming course. It is imperative for me to have the latest hardwareand software and I make it a point to install everything myself. I also learnUrdu as it is my native tongue and a link to my culture, to maintain that iscrucial.

Living in a diverse international community of over 52 nationalities hasallowed to me recognize and appreciate different cultures. In my personal experience,despite the fact that some of the problems that I have encountered in myteaching career can be solved by consulting relevant technical literature, Ihave found that the more serious flaws inherent in Chinas current educationalsystem cannot be worked out easily. Under such circumstances, an advancedprogram in education becomes necessary.

In this age of information, traditional education, both in its ideology andmethodology, has met unprecedented challenge like many other aspects of humanexistence. Meanwhile, the pursuit for higher levels of educational developmentand of the quality of life has largely transformed the educational valueorientation of the general public. The educational model that is centered aroundthe cognitive and intellectual instruction has been seriously questioned.Greater attention has been devoted to the cultivation of well-developedpersonality and to the ontological status of the individual in education. Suchissues as the internal studies of education science, scientific decision-makingin education, and meta-education have also been increasingly emphasized upon.There have also been innovations in educational research methodology. Thetendency has been to combine modern technology with humanistic researchcategories and with naturalistic research categories, and to organicallyintegrate qualitative descriptions with quantitative descriptions. It is alsoimportant to carry out educational experimentations in which educationalpredictions are complemented by educational feedbacks. Both the complexity ofeducation and the complexity of human individuals have made the comprehensiveapplication of diverse educational approaches necessary. Those new horizons arewhat fascinate me.

In view of the following qualifications that I have acquired, I believethat I will acquit myself satisfactorily in the prospective Ph.D. program ineducation that I am currently endeavoring to apply for. First and foremost, asis often claimed, ones interest is ones best director. I believe that I willdo well what I am really interested in doing. In Educational Psychology, I will concentrate on appliedcognition and development, gifted and creative education, genetics and childrendevelopment, personality structure and individual differences and other relatedsubjects.

For me, to shift from economics to education and to pursue an advanceddegree in the United States is not so much a challenge as an opportunity. Atpresent, major reforms are being introduced into virtually every importantaspect of Chinese society. The field of education especially calls forcomprehensive reforms. As a child I often accompanied my father to his small coin shop and spenthours watching him work. When I was older, I sometimes set up displays, waitedon customers, and even balanced the books. This experience instilled in me thedesire to own and manage my own business someday, yet I understand that thebusiness world today is more complex. This complexity requires more education,and with that in mind, I am applying to the Master’s of Business Administrationprogram at Indiana University Bloomington (IUB).

In addition to my helping out in my father’s business, I have had numerousother work experiences that further enhance my qualifications for this program.My resume enumerates the various positions I have held at Kerasotes Theaters,Chili’s restaurants, and Indiana University’s new Student Recreational SportsCenter (SRSC), and what all of these positions have in common is an emphasis onserving the public effectively. Further, as an assistant manager at theShowplace 11 and a staff coordinator at the SRSC, I have gained valuableexpertise in managing employees and creating work schedules. Both of thesepositions have allowed me to develop my sales and people skills, which areextremely important in an increasingly service-driven marketplace.

Not all of my work experience has been as a paid employee. Part of myvolunteering experience at Middleway House, the local battered women’s shelter,involved extensive work on computers, including word processing, organizingdatabases and creating spreadsheets. Also, I recently participated in aninternship program for academic credit with the Eli Lilly corporation in thepersonnel division. But fortunately， my father had a well-diversified portfolio because ofwhich our returns were protected from the downside risk. This was when I learntthe second principle of finance from my father i.e. diversification reducesrisk. While I understood these two principles intuitively， it produced in me astrong urge to learn and understand the complex theory behind the working ofFinance. This， I believe， was a turning point in my career. I made up my mind topursue a career in Finance and hence decided to do a Masters program in BusinessAdministration.

As I was finishing college， my mother had both of her hips replaced withartificial ones because all of the cartilage in her hip joints had worn away andit was very painful for her to walk. I found it fascinating that engineers，orthopedic surgeons， and biologists had all worked together to design theseartificial joints that completely transform. peoples lives by giving them backpain-free mobility， and I knew at that moment that this was an area about whichI wanted to learn more. In China these days， university graduates who have notbeen lucky enough to settle into their dream jobs often look to graduatedstudies as a way to kill the time that they cannot otherwise spend meaningfully.I am prepared to go against the social conventions by putting on hold asuccessful research career that promised to be even more successful. My persistence in reading saved me from the dark situation. as a matter of fact， i enjoyed reading the books included encyclopedia american， and some books about management by peter ker. i began to notice something interesting： why some companies can produce more than others? why some company can sell more than others? why some companies can build up but others cannot when facing the same difficulties?

我出生于一个教师之家，母亲是一位优秀的小学教师;父亲是也曾经是教师，后来经历了人生的第二次选择，考入法院，成了一名法官。父母对生活的热情和对人生挫折的态度，潜移默化地影响着我，形成了我自强不息、不轻言败的性格。

中考的教训，让我懂得了什么叫脚踏实地，什么叫不图虚荣，什么叫谦虚谨慎，什么叫取长补短……高中三年，我努力夯实学科基础知识、掌握学习方法、提高操作实践能力、同时，利用课余时间广泛地涉猎大量书籍，不但充实了自己，而且培养了自己多方面的技能。夷陵中学严谨的学风塑造了我朴实、稳重的学习态度，更重要的是在这样一个精英云集的地方，我学会了在竞争中挑战自我，在合作中欣赏他人。这样一步一个脚印走来，我尝到了成功的喜悦：成绩逐年上升，我看到了自己身上蕴藏着的无限潜能，它让我相信——如果给我一个支点，我也能撬起整个地球!

选择_大学我有以下几个理由：

一是_大学是一所国家教育部直属的，拥有研究生院，本科专业涵盖了理、工、文、经、管、法、教育等学科门类的综合性重点大学，是一所有着坚实的学术基础和严谨的治学传统，校园环境优美的大学。在这样的学习环境里，无论是在知识能力，还是在个人素质修养方面，我会受益匪浅。

二是_大学是一所以工为主的大学，这符合了我的学科兴趣，我是一个理科生，尤其以数学、物理学科见长，这次推荐我参加自主招生的就是我的数学老师和物理老师。我喜欢在这样自主开放的环境里学习，希望可以有更为广阔的发展前景。

三是_大学坚持以“厚基础，宽口径，强能力，高素质”的人才培养计划，在教学中注重创新能力培养，注重提高学生的综合素质，学校实施了一系列教学改革新措施包括：名师上讲台工程、中英文双语教学工程、“创新人才培养”工程、本硕连读制度等，还有一系列的完善学分制管理的制度，包括主辅修制、弹性学制、第二学位制、优异生培养制度等。

现在有很多的大学生毕业后面临就业难的问题，这也将是我今后不能回避的，但我想，这是一个适应社会的问题。大学是一个可以接触并尝试众多领域的独一无二的场所，是一个沟通社会的平台。我希望这里掌握生活技能，培养自己的社会角色，使自己能承担社会责任，权利和义务，成为一个真正的社会人。

现在的科技发展可谓日新月异，我的学习是要掌握最基本的学习工具和方法，将来利用这些工具和方法，再去学习新的东西。我们不可能靠在大学里学到的知识来维护一生的，以后如果不再学了，照样会落后，所以，本科读什么专业不能完全决定毕业后的工作方向。我希望根据我的学科特长，选择适合我的专业，但是我不会太在意专业的趋向，绝对服从学校根据我的情况进行专业调剂。

"韶华不为少年留，勤为天道酬。"正如高三的教室后墙上我所想出的励志名言一般，它时刻激励着班上的同学与我。我，封恬恬，湖南省衡阳市八中高三的一名学生，就读文科，是平凡的，因为是一个同所有人一样的矛盾融合体;但又坚信自己是不同的，是因为我将成为发光体。金子，到哪里都会发光，而我选择的是贵校这样一座炼金炉。

河，孕育文明;海，凝聚智慧。我愿像河般，为梦想奔腾向前永不止息;像海般容纳百川，有容乃大。"上善若水。水善利万物而不争，处众人之所恶，故几于道。居善地，心善渊，与善仁，言善信，正善治，事善能，动善时。夫唯不争，故无尤。"善的最高境界，大致在于此乎。像水般，往低处流，却能容纳百川;而在人生的攀登中，往高处走时，当不胜寒时，不忘想想水的谦虚，以一种包容一切的姿态，以柔化刚，接受万物的俯视与臣服，这种"柔德"，使我自己的心境变得平和，要像水那样，无形胜有形，不断地改变，塑造自己，臻于完美。

宠辱不惊，闲看庭前花开花落;去留无意，漫随天外云卷云舒的同时，我本着湖湘学派"经世致用"的原则，志当存高远。如果说周总理是"为中华之崛起而读书"，那我便愿为"中国之强盛而读书"。学无止境，人生本是一个不断学习的过程。在六年的学习委员一职的任职过程中，除了学习课本知识，我的右手可以写出一手漂亮的毛笔。因为正，一笔一划地写，心才会正。我的左手，能弹出美妙的小提琴乐章，这不仅开发了我的右脑，音乐更使我思维敏捷。那些曼妙的音符，不仅是人类对上帝的提问，更是与大自然的交流。让狂躁的心，不知不觉间安静下来。

人生的旅途中，读书万卷：安徒生童话到世界名着。我醉心于宝黛间的痴缠;徜徉于《傲慢与偏见》里伊丽莎白奇妙的心海中;感叹于李白"我辈岂是蓬蒿人"的豪迈;与杜甫"安得广厦千万间，大庇天下寒士俱欢颜"一起忧国忧民;与易安居士一起看"雨疏风骤，绿肥红瘦"。在文的海洋中，我愿成那一滴水，一尾鱼，在海洋心中，见证着它的悲喜。于是在历史的不平中，我亦诗叹曰：陈王梦还金镂枕，凤皇遗恨正阿房，才佳长恨无归处，冷露成泪暗遗香。

我同样愿行万里路，沿途的风景，丰盈着自己的人生，懂得取与舍，让人生的阅历更加丰富。曾到过南京，河畔桨声灯影，媛娮笑晏晏，六朝旧事已随流水，而这座古都却有太多历史无法忘记的东西：革命先行者孙文先生之陵……流连于河海大学门前，不由驻足，希望自己能成为"归人"，而不是"过客"。我这样的游子，在阅过17年风景后，选择了河海大学作为圆梦的地方。

我喜欢奔跑的感觉，起跑线比重点更加美好，体味那为理想拼搏的过程。十年磨一剑，剑出鞘，一鸣惊人，直指河海。

我，静如处子，或动如脱兔，愿意跟书本这样高尚的朋友对话。书山有路勤为径，运用正确的学习方法，在无涯的学海中"直挂云帆济沧海"，正确地驾驶着学习之舟，虽然途中有风浪，但坚持驶向目的地--河海之湾。我，崇尚独立，常独立思考探寻人生真谛，遇事冷静自若，却又让理性成为我织梦的梭，让勤奋成为我筑梦的桥。理智与热情，诚信与好学，成为划向河海的桨，只为到那里，为自己编织另一个梦，解决南方家乡旱涝灾害频繁的问题，造福家乡、祖国人民。在见证河湾辉煌的同时，与河海一起创造下一个辉煌。
