As a child I often accompanied my father to his small coin shop and spenthours watching him work. When I was older, I sometimes set up displays, waitedon customers, and even balanced the books. This experience instilled in me thedesire to own and manage my own business someday, yet I understand that thebusiness world today is more complex. The motivation behind my currentapplication for a Master’s program in economics is to pursue a more fruitfulcareer development in the future so that the process of my self-actualizationwill also be a process of making contributions to others.

From 1993 to 1995 I received a juniorcollege education from the Business School of _ University, majoring inmarketing. For the foreseeable future, the conflict between the scarcity ofnatural resources and the infinitude of human demand will continue to persist,posing a long-lasting threat to the social development of all nations. Thenecessity to seek a solution to this conflict gave birth to Economics, whichpromises to maximize material wealth through an optimum allocation of resources.Because of my diligent efforts at coursework and my strong interest ineconomics, I managed to achieve a top-10 ranking in my class，winning the honorof Outstanding Student and a second-class scholarship. I familiarized myselfwith most classic works on economics and management, including Principles ofManagement by Harold Koontz, Economics by Samuelson, Competition Strategy byPorter and Wealth of Nations by Adam Smiths, etc. From the very beginning of myeconomics study, I have tried to expose myself to western perspectives.

Starting from the premise that economics will be lifeless unless it isapplied to the problems in the real world, I paid special attention in myundergraduate program to the combination of theory and practice as a way oflearning and applying my knowledge of economics. I once spent a whole summervacation on conducting a survey of the fast food business in _ City. I sampled15 fast food restaurants, carried out interviews with restaurant owners and thecustomers. I applied quantitative analysis to my statistics and proposedconcrete measures for developing the city’s fast food industry through improvingmanagement, business environment, food variety and service quality.

My research ability was improved through writing my thesis –The Protectionand the Development of China’s National Industry in the Age of Reform andOpening Up. The thesis focuses on China’s joining of WTO and its possiblenegative impact on the growth of national industry. My conclusion is that acareful balance must be struck between the protection of national industry andthe introduction of foreign capital. The thesis was rated “Excellent” for itscomprehensive theoretical formulation, detailed statistics and creativeperspectives.

I am applying for admission to the Ph.D. program in Electrical and ComputerEngineering， at the University of California， Berkeley. I present my researchexperience and study objectives in this statement of purpose. I would like tobuild on my solid education and experience as an engineer for a Ph. D. degree incomputer science at a distinguished university. I wish in particular to betrained at an advanced level in software systems， database systems， applied-AIand knowledge-based systems. My ultimate goal is to become a professor teachingcomputer science at a Chinese university. I believe that advanced training in aquality graduate program will help me realize my goal.

My father is a chartered accountant and my mother is a banker. During mydays at Engineering College I used to go to my fathers office and help himmanage his portfolio of equities and other financial instruments. This was thetime I learnt the first lesson of finance from my father i.e. risk and returnare proportionate. In 1998 when I was in the second year the China stock marketcrashed. But fortunately， my father had a well-diversified portfolio because ofwhich our returns were protected from the downside risk. This was when I learntthe second principle of finance from my father i.e. diversification reducesrisk. While I understood these two principles intuitively， it produced in me astrong urge to learn and understand the complex theory behind the working ofFinance. This， I believe， was a turning point in my career. I made up my mind topursue a career in Finance and hence decided to do a Masters program in BusinessAdministration.

As I was finishing college， my mother had both of her hips replaced withartificial ones because all of the cartilage in her hip joints had worn away andit was very painful for her to walk. I found it fascinating that engineers，orthopedic surgeons， and biologists had all worked together to design theseartificial joints that completely transform. peoples lives by giving them backpain-free mobility， and I knew at that moment that this was an area about whichI wanted to learn more. In China these days， university graduates who have notbeen lucky enough to settle into their dream jobs often look to graduatedstudies as a way to kill the time that they cannot otherwise spend meaningfully.I am prepared to go against the social conventions by putting on hold asuccessful research career that promised to be even more successful. by myself near my school. i should manage not only the finance in the shopbut also the employees in my shop even made some strategies to enlarge thebusiness in my shop to hold on the run the shop. from this， my interpersonalskills and the capacity in business has been greatly developed， definitely i wasincreasingly interested in what i was doing. by december， 20__， i had finallydetermined to take business management as my career instead of it. to accumulatemore relevant knowledge， i strived to gain more practical work experience insome big companies.

1. 参观和考察学校

预约参观考察学校(首先进入学校的，先注册，然后通过邮件在网上预约参观学校的时间，一般学校都需要你提前预约，也可以自己接打电话预约)。收到回信按预约时间访问学校，会有招生办的老师带领参观校园然后帮助你了解相关学校信息。

2. 网上提交申请材料

确定学校后就可以在提交申请材料，学校的通常都会有完善的申请流程，按照提示和要求来就好。学校收到递交材料后如果有不完善的地方仍然会通过邮件形式与家长沟通，所以记得时常看看邮箱以及垃圾邮件箱。

3. 等待面试通知

从申请到收到面试通知这个过程会比较漫长，至少一个月，两个月也完全有可能。

因为，泰国人办事速度较慢，申请的学生越来越多，而招生办通常就是两三个负责人，她们每天有接待不完的访问者以及上百封邮件要回复。

所以如果怠慢你是非常正常的，建议勤发邮件沟通以防被疏漏。准备的这期间可以好好帮助孩子准备面试。低龄儿童面试对英文的要求不高，能简单的交流。

但是一年级以后的需要有一定的基础，面试包括听说读甚至写，比想象中要难。所以一定要有英文基础。(但各个学校都存在不同程度的差异，所以看你选择的是哪个学校)

4. 面试结果

参加学校面试后，不会立马有结果，通常等上一个月两个月都很正常。所以建议你至少提前半年开始办理申请。泰国开学时间一般都在八月份，一个学年分四个学期，平均两个月为一学期。

5. 交建校费和学费并保留收费单

如果面试成功学校会学校会通知你按时缴费(建校费和学费，学费可以按一学年交也可以按一学期交)学校收到款项会给你邮寄收费单据和签证所需的推荐材料(单据和签证材料都得保存好，这个后续去大使馆办签证要用到)。
