5月15日，厦门市疾病预防控制中心正式发布《厦门居民XX年碘营养状况报告》，报告中指出，厦门城区和农村的8-10岁儿童、成人、农村哺乳妇女的碘营养水平处于适宜状态;但城区和农村的孕妇、城区的哺乳妇女的碘营养水平都处于不足的状态。

根据XX年全年的监测显示，无论厦门的农村还是城区，饮用水含碘量都在10μg/l以下，说明厦门的自然环境仍属于碘缺乏状态;对照国家消除碘缺乏病标准，厦门居民碘盐覆盖率、合格碘盐食用率，8-10岁儿童尿碘中位数和甲状腺肿大已连续XX年保持在国家消除碘缺乏病标准。值得注意的是，虽然厦门城区和农村的8-10岁儿童、成人、农村哺乳妇女的碘营养水平都处于适宜状态，但城区和农村的孕妇、城区的哺乳妇女的碘营养水平都处于不足的状态。

外环境的缺碘状态不可能改变，但市民可以通过食用碘盐来杜绝微量元素缺乏所造成的危害。孕妇、哺乳妇女除了正常食用碘盐外，还应经常食用富碘海产品(海带、紫菜等)或补充富碘维生素;即使患有甲状腺疾病的孕妇和哺乳妇女，也需要食用碘盐，甚至需要额外补充一些碘(可以选择含碘丰富的食物或在医生指导下服用含有多种无机盐和维生素合剂)，以保证胎儿和幼儿的正常脑发育。
