General Introduction

I am a third year master major in automation at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, P. R. China. With tremendous interest in Industrial Engineering, I am writing to apply for acceptance into your Ph.D. graduate program.

Education background

In 1995, I entered the Nanjing University of Science & Technology (NUST) -- widely considered one of the China’s best engineering schools. During the following undergraduate study, my academic records kept distinguished among the whole department. I was granted First Class Prize every semester,In 1999, I got the privilege to enter the graduate program waived of the admission test.

At the period of my graduate study, my overall GPA(3.77/4.0) ranked top 5% in the department. In the second semester, I became teacher assistant that is given to talented and matured students only. With the tool of OpenGL and Matlab, I designed a simulation program for transportation scheduling system. It is now widely used by different research groups in NUST. I assumed and fulfilled a sewage analysis & dispose project for Nanjing sewage treatment plant. This was my first practice to convert a laboratory idea to a commercial product.

In retrospect, I find myself standing on a solid basis in both theory and experience, which has prepared me for the Ph.D. program. My future research interests include: Network Scheduling Problem, Heuristic Algorithm research (especially in GA and Neural network), Supply chain network research, Hybrid system performance analysis with Petri nets and Data Mining.

初三上学期已经结束了，在我的学习成绩上，一直并不优秀，上学总是在伪装，在发呆，因为，当时在我的思想里完全找不到认真读书的念头，也没有意识到读书的得益与不学习的后果。直到面临严峻的期末考试的前段时间，"无知"的我才意识到学习的重要性，我所意识的重要并不是为考试而学习、为老师为家长而学习，而是为自己为未来为今后的我而学习，学习就是我未来的基础。

(四)初中三年我学到了很多知识，思想比以前有了很大的提高，希望以后能做一个有理想，有抱负，有文化的人，为建设社会主义中国做出自己的努力。当然我也深刻认识到自己的不足，字写的不是很好，有时候做事情会只有三分钟热情，我相信只要克服这些问题，我就能做的更好。

(五)本人能自觉遵守中学生守则，积极参加各项活动，尊敬师长，与同学和睦相处，关心热爱集体，乐于帮助别人，劳动积极肯干，自觉锻炼身体，经常参加并组织班级学校组织的各种课内外活动。

(六)本人品德兼优、性格开朗、热爱生活，有较强的实践能力和组织能力。学习之余，走出校门，本人珍惜每次锻炼的机会，与不同的人相处，让自己近距离地接触社会，感受人生，品味生活的酸甜苦辣。
