翻译实践的过程中，我总结了4种必备的翻译工具：一是灵格斯翻译工具，里面可安装简明俄汉词典、新俄汉词典、大俄汉词典、俄汉实用工业技术词典;二是百度搜索工具;三是Google搜索工具;四是яндех搜索工具——专业的俄文搜索工具。翻译的具体步骤可如下：首先可以现在灵格斯里查询不懂的单词或词组，寻找最符合原文的解释。当然这只是最基本的做法，但是由于缺少专业的科技词典，在灵格斯往往是查询不出所需的单词或语义。于是，求助于Google和яндех则是很有必要的。按照我自己的经验来说，我采取同时在Google和яндех搜索的做法，并对同种搜索工具搜索结果进行比较。它们有着各自的优缺点。Google的优点是打开俄文页面的同时可以同时打开另外一个翻译页面，即Google可以自动把页面从来源语俄语翻译成汉语，而缺点是经常发生翻译错误，翻译的可信度是50%。яндех的优点是用俄语词组和句子解释俄语词汇，意义更准确，更贴近原文，而缺点就是有时用于释义的词汇过于深奥，过于专业，相当于用更专业的词汇解释专业词汇，即难上加难。所以我认为最后就需要用到百度工具了。结合Google和яндех的参考翻译，用百度搜索翻译过的专业词汇，查看是否有相同或相近的专业用语，之后才确定出最准确的译法。

自己校对，虚心地向本专业的老师和材料学院的老师请教。首先进行的自己去校对。原以为会限于“当局者迷”之说而不懂查看、修改自己的译文。但认真看完一遍译文之后才知道自己的眼睛还算是锐利的，检查出不少错误。比如最明显的一处是有一个句子翻译得不通顺，如果是一个没看过原文的人肯定是看不懂得。还有专业术语的译错。但错的最离谱的是编辑排版上的错误。于是我反复对照原文和译文之后，及时把发现的错误都改了过来。之后我找到了材料学院的一个同学，她的专业能力一直都是优异，她无疑是能够帮我校对的好帮手。我让她帮我看我的译文，查找出不符合材料专业方面的词汇或句子，并提出相关问题和相应地译法建议，之后我根据她的意见参照原文，采用了其中可取的建议。最后我就需要找本专业老师的对我进行针对性的指导了。我把之前摘录在本子上的疑点。难点句一一请教老师，比如应该怎样正确分析句子的结构，何种情况下采用拆分语义翻译，何时应该直译。老师讲得很详细很耐心，似乎想把自身积累下来的翻译经验全部都传授给我了。此行确实受益匪浅，越来越明白到做一个合格的翻译工作者不容易，要想做一个优秀的翻译工作者则是更难了，必须同时具有高水平的语言能力和某一领域的专业知识。

经过几天的翻译工作，心里感触良多，收获也颇多，细细梳理了第一次真正的翻译生涯，总结出了几点体会。

1、翻译的工作性质需要我们仔细、认真并且耐心。翻译是一项慢中出细活的工作，要坐得住，稳得住，要一丝不苟地对待，字字斟酌，句句思量，严格遵守“信、雅、达”的翻译标准，力求把译文翻译得通顺准确，忠实原文。

2、俄语和其他学科知识的积累。毫无疑问，要想成为一个出色的翻译工作者，就必须同时具有高水平的语言能力和某一领域的专业知识。这一次的翻译实践大大拓宽了我的视野，积累了不少专业的俄语词汇，也逐渐认清科技俄语文章的翻译特点。

3、计算机操作能力提高，尤其是俄语打字的水平。现在翻译文章无不需要借助于电脑，翻译的过程中直接考验了一个人的打字水平，现在我的俄文打字速度已经相当快了，即使没有俄文键盘照样能熟练打字。

4、增加了做一个合格翻译工作者的信心。第一次真正的翻译实践就得到了褒奖，大大增加了我的信心。我相信自己的能力，对自己的翻译生涯充满了热切的期待。也许我不是天才，不能一下子就成为优秀的翻译者，但我愿意先从一个合格的翻译者做起，从合格到优秀，一直努力，一直在进步，这才是我一生所应该追求的梦想。

总而言之，实习是我通向职业之路的踏脚板，翻译助我通往人生的成功之路。

随着市场经济的不断深化，我国城市零售业得到了长足发展.而人口占总人口绝大多数的农村，零售业的发展仍较为滞后，存在一些不可忽视的问题。多年来，中央发了多个解决“三农”问题的一号文件，说明“解决好农业、农村、农民问题，事关全面建设小康社会大局，必须始终作为全党工作的重中之重”，“坚持把发展现代农业、繁荣农村经济作为首要任务，加强农村基础设施建设，健全农村市场和农业服务体系”。在市场经济条件下，三农问题的解决与农村市场体系建设，特别与农村零售市场体系建设密不可分。

function and application of descriptive translation studies

1 introduction

the intention of this study is to explore possible advantages of descriptive translation studies as in its application in translation practice and translation analysis.

since early 20th century, translation studies gradually broke away from the marginal status within other related disciplines and established itself as an empirical science. from then on, schools of thought have kept coming out and each claims its legitimacy for existence. among these schools is descriptive translation studies (dts).

dts approaches translation from an empirical perspective. translation is viewed to be a social activity having significant importance in the receiving culture and for the target community. therefore, translation is dealt with beyond the linguistic realization and language comparison, and is incorporated in social and cultural context.

my attention was first directed to dts by its peculiar characteristic of observation, description and explanation. the subject is whatever happens in translation practice, from the determination of prospective function of translation to the process of translator’s choice of strategies, brainstorming and the revision, to the final product making appearance in the target community.

the method of dts is basically descriptive. the prescriptive tendency and the problem-solution pattern is abandoned. translation phenomena are noted down. with accumulated data, some underlying truths about translation will come out which will prove to be instructive not only for theoretical probe but also for applied translation practice. i will apply this descriptive method in the case study of this thesis.

a convenient tool has been set up to conduct dts. “norm” is operative at every stage of description and explanation. function, process and product and their relationship as well are skeletal structure of what constitute descriptive studies. translation phenomena are accounted for with the help of norm.

the case taken in this thesis is the chinese classic the dream of red mansions. two english versions translated respectively by yang hsien-yi and david hawks are compared and observations are made in regard to their translation approaches.

in this regard, my observations are limited to several aspects, i hope in-depth observation and explanation will done in light of dts.

经过长途跋涉，我们终于走进了吕梁，走进柳林，也走进了一个陌生的世界。

我对山区的认识是从贺家坡乡的杨家凹开始的。为了支持我们的活动，县里专门派车接送我们，协助我们的工作。

对我来说，两个月前玩过山车时游客们的尖叫声还回荡在耳边，今天我们就坐上了名副其实的“过山车”。黄土高原的山路，除了固有的崎岖回环外，有平添了几分艰险。一边是高山峭壁另一边就是万丈深渊。从车窗向下看去，直接就是望不到底的深谷，生与死往往只有一线之隔，一步之差。面对更真实的恐惧，车厢里的队员反而呈现了出奇的平静。不是透过车窗看着远山，就是直视前方，看着一个又一个必经的险坡。也许人们都再设想我们将要去的杨家凹是什么样的，抑或更具使命感的制订着自己的工作计划。可以这样说，对于将要发生的一切，我们一无所知，除了设想还是设想。

而我的思绪仍就停留在刚刚离开的贺家坡。一到贺家坡就听见孩子们用稚嫩的嗓子不断的喊着：“向来访者学习!好好学习，天天向上!”一种久违的亲切感顷刻间涌上心头，好久没有听到这样的声音，见到这样的场面了。走过去，只见排成方阵的孩子们穿着不合季节的运动装，手中举着彩色的花束、花环，在老师的指挥下有规律的挥动着，汗水不断地顺着脸颊淌下去，一个个神情严肃而认真。在乡领导的带领下，我们走进了贺家坡小学，那里已经聚集了许多的村民。领导们开了一个简单的欢迎仪式，当时接近中午，烈日当头，我们这些身着短衣短袖的大学生已经觉得炎热难耐了，可那些孩子们依然静静地，直直地站着，任凭火一般阳光毫无保留地烤在他们身上。我们看在眼里痛在心里，毕竟这一切是由我们造成的，况且他们怯怯而不敢直视的眼神也是我们所不愿见到的。

仪式过后，我们走到他们中间，帮他们脱去那厚重的外衣，让孩子们也凉快一下。我们的这一举动消除了我们之间的陌生感和不该有的隔阂，气氛立刻变的轻松起来，不一会儿我们就成了无话不谈的朋友，这种小小的欢乐渐渐在校园的上空弥漫开来……

杨家凹是我们小分队进驻的第一个自然村。听司机师傅说，这还是一个交通相对便利的村子，其他邻村只能步行去，而且距离都相当的远。那里，我们是不能去的。

村民们很早就在村长家等我们了，通过一些简单而直接的交谈，我们了解了好多。这里的家长比我们想象的开通的多，他们普遍意识到教育对孩子的未来有直接的决定作用，一般家庭都会尽最大力量供孩子读书。

杨家凹已经连续五年大旱了，贫瘠的土地上，本来就不宜种植粮食，而赖以生存的枣树，长势也极为可怜，当时已经接近收获季节，可每棵枣树的枝条上却不见结枣，可见今年又将是个歉收年。

这里的教育水平很落后。教师授课以自己制定的教学计划和班里的尖子生的掌握状况为准，其他大部分学生很难跟上老师的授课进度。落后的教学方式导致的直接后果是升学率的滞下，这个村应届生升学率为0，而经过复读的学生升学率也不过10%，况且是要去柳林一中补习的，在那儿一年下来得花费两千五百元左右，对于一个面朝黄土背朝天的普通农民来说，这可不是一笔小数目呀!在本地复读虽然便宜，但效果很难让人满意，据说，有的孩子读了三年也没能考上高中。

这些山里的孩子们就在经济条件与教学条件之间左右为难着，最终家庭稍困难的学生就此失去了读高中的机会。当然这并不是绝对。宋老师就是一个例外。

说实话，第一次看见宋老师让我想起了电影《凤凰琴》中的校长。棱角分明的脸上架着一副大大的近视镜，薄薄的两片嘴唇紧紧的抿着，一副教师所特有的单薄的身体，更显憔悴。宋老师是负责我们与孩子之间联络的，很多资助孩子上学的费用，都是通过他中转的。他的家住在废弃小学的旧窑洞里，简单的陈设中大部分是各种书籍，电视机是我所见到的唯一家电，但平时怕影响孩子学习是很少看的。宋老师不但是一个成功的教师，也是一位成功的父亲，他的女儿是全校唯一应届考上高中的学生，并成为我们首批奖学金的获得者。这道让我想起一首歌曲：世间自有公道，付出总有回报，说到不如做到……

村民对我们可以说是热情备至。他们总是出于人性中最善良的本质为你默默的做着一切，他们质朴而憨厚的笑容时时触动着我心灵的深处。程田雨是我资助的一个孩子，为了迎接我，他拿出了家里最好的，也是平时很少吃的——白面，做了南瓜白面条(他们这里四季都吃不上蔬菜，一切以面食为主，很多家庭吃的还是玉米面、高粮面)。饭是为我一个人做的，当我吃面的时候，他们专注的看着我，脸上露出了满足的笑容，仿佛嚼着白面条的是他们而不是我。在这里我是不敢剩饭的，田雨的妈妈看着被我吃干净的碗，眼神中流露出无比的欣慰，生怕我这城里娃，感到不习惯而吃不下。可是此刻，我的心里却早已是酸甜苦辣什么味道都有了。

这里有一个习惯，晚上要喝小米稀饭，俗称“喝汤”。第一天晚上，我们是在刘爱军家度过的。他的父亲为了让我们去他家喝汤，在村长家等了足有一个半小时。在他的盛情邀请下，我们去了他家。当时天很黑，原本崎岖不平的山路，在夜幕下更显得艰险难行。在我们后，刘爱军全家才在厨房的一角开始吃晚饭，一切的一切都在我们吃完以后，我们只是后悔当初为什么不早一点来!晓辉给爱军补习了会儿英语。天渐渐的晚了，他的父亲执意要送我们回去，要知道走一趟至少得用半个小时，而当时已经接近十一点，这将直接影响到他的休息，明天的劳作该怎么办呢?况且我们已给他们一家添的麻烦实在太多了，于是我们拿了手电筒独自往回走，路上田雨和他的母亲拿着灯光微弱的手电筒来接我们。后来才知道，他们在村长家等了我们两个小时，实在等不及了才来找我们。晚上我住在了他家。由于一天的奔波与劳累，我一躺下就睡着了，梦里充满了老乡们和善单纯的笑容，孩子们期待信任的目光……在城市里长大的我，从来没有发现，自己原来可以给别人带来如此大的快乐与幸福。他们尊重我、支持我、需要我，而我所做的却又那么微不足道!啊，这种人与人之间平等的爱与被爱，关怀与被关怀的感觉多么好呀!第二天，田雨说我在睡梦中也是微笑着的。是呀，这么甜的梦我能不笑么?

however, datang teashop only occupies an area of 84 square meters now, which is hindering the shop from expanding its services. the management planned to offer a wider range of services but the limited space has constrained the implementation. some clients complained about the insufficient stock and staff, limited sorts of tea, narrow space, and short of service.

关于隐喻的研究：古希腊哲学家亚里士多德就提出了隐喻这一概念。传统的隐喻理论普遍认为：隐喻是一种语言现象，一种修辞手段，主要用在文学作品中。浪漫主义诗人认为隐喻是诗歌的灵魂。长期以来人们主要研究隐喻的诗学功能与修辞功能。lakoff和johnson在1980年发表的隐喻学专著《我们赖以生存的隐喻》一书中提出了隐喻研究的认知论。lakoff认为：“隐喻是一种思维方式，隐喻无处不在，语言在本质上是隐喻性的，我们借以思维和行动的概念系统在本质上基本是隐喻的”。lakoff运用源域和目标域之间的映射以及意象图式来解释隐喻现象。束定芳和汤本庆指出：“语言教师可以利用隐喻理论来解释语言意义的变化发展过程，解释词汇意义之间的相互关系，同时，还可以利用概念隐喻理论来解释语言中各种不同形式的隐喻之间的系统性和相互关系”。蔡龙权认为：“隐喻过程中的语义转移为语词的意义扩展提供了平台。隐喻、认知和语言的这一密切关系为词汇学习等外语学习找到了依据，这为我们研究词汇习得提供了一个新的视角。

You walk around the building all day， shiftlessly looking for fault in others. You have a sharp dressed， useless look about you that may have worked for your interview， but now that you actually have responsibility， you pawn it off on overworked staff， hoping their talent will cover for your glaring ineptitude. In a world of managerial evolution， you are the blue-green algae that everyone else eats and laughs at. Managers like you are a sad proof of the Dilbert principle.

Since this situation is unlikely to change without you getting a full frontal lobotomy reversal， I am forced to tender my resignation. However， I have a few parting thoughts.

1. When someone calls you in reference to employment， it is illegal for you to give me a bad recommendation. The most you can say to hurt me is I prefer not to comment. I will have friends randomly call you over the next couple of years to keep you honest， because I know you would be unable to do it on your own.

2. I have all the passwords to every account on the system， and I know every password you have used for the last five years. If you decide to get cute， I am going to publish your favorites list， which I conveniently saved when you made me back up your useless files. I do believe that terms like Lolita are not usually viewed favorably by the administration.

3. When you borrowed the digital camera to take pictures of your Mothers birthday， you neglected to mention that you were going to take pictures of yourself in the mirror nude. Then you forgot to erase them like the techno-moron you really are. Suffice it to say I have never seen such odd acts with a sauce bottle， but I assure you that those have been copied and kept in safe places pending the authoring of a glowing letter of recommendation. (Try to use a spell check please; I hate having to correct your mistakes.)

Thank you for your time， and I expect the letter of recommendation on my desk by 8：00 am tomorrow.
