I am a third year master major in automation at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, P. R. China. With tremendous interest in Industrial Engineering, I am writing to apply for acceptance into your Ph.D. graduate program.

Education background

In 1995, I entered the Nanjing University of Science & Technology (NUST) -- widely considered one of the China’s best engineering schools. During the following undergraduate study, my academic records kept distinguished among the whole department. I was granted First Class Prize every semester,In 1999, I got the privilege to enter the graduate program waived of the admission test.

紧张而又繁忙的十一月份的教育、教学已经结束了。这一月份我的教学思想受到了很大程度的激励，因为学生的期中考试成绩给我的教学产生了深刻的影响，使我更全面、彻底地认识了我的学生的学习水平，让我在以后的教育、教学工作中能更好地对我的学生有的放矢和因材施教。现针对学生的现状和我的教学情况反思如下：

反思一：过高地估计学生。我总是认为学生的基本知识都已经掌握得很好了，课堂上看到少部分同学的积极反应，就认为大部分同学都学会了，而其实不然。期中考试后，面对学生们那让人心痛的成绩，我感到十分不解。为了弄明原因，我对他们进行了调查，发现他们的英语差到我难以想象的程度，竟然有近五分之一的学生连单词都不会读，更谈不上说英语和写英语文章了。

反思二：我的教学内容的设计只局限在中等以上的同学身上。导致上课期间，很多同学不能开口、不敢开口、不愿开口。久而久之，学生在英语课堂上变得自卑。

反思三：对基础知识的检查力度还不够到位。今年我们高二英语多根据学生实际情况采取学案教学，在学案上我们设计了大量的基础知识，我们采取四部教学法来传授基础知识。首先，学生们可根据课本自己预习，初步完成基础知识的自学。然后由老师讲解课文，再一次强调学案上的重点，加深学生对基础知识的巩固。第三。由老师收交学生的学案并认真地批改，发下去让他们订正。第四。我们再通过单元过关来检测学生掌握的情况。我认为我的第三步让学生订正这一环节做的不到位，没有再收交检查。结果导致期中考试中基础知识测试这一部分我们学生的得分很不理想，这就要求我在以后的教学中应该加强这一环节的督促和检查。

反思四：只顾跟踪创新教法，忽视了传统的语法教学。其实语法教学对中国的学生来说是还是非常有用的。我们的学生受汉语的影响，到英语里连最基本的句法结构他们都搞得稀里糊涂。而我在平时的教学里就忽视了这一点。

针对以上的四点反思，我制定了以下的几点对应的措施：

措施一。多走近学生，了解学生对英语学习的要求，给学生做一下认真的排队，分出好、中、差的三类学生，以便于在具体的教学实践中合理地进行教学。

措施二。继续加强对学生的基础知识的教学。课堂上以基础教学为主，着重学生的语言实践活动，让学生多说、多读、多写。

措施三。加大检查力度，让每一位学生的单词和短语都要过关，制定奖勤罚懒的措施，并为每位学生制作听写档案，装订成册。

措施四。加强课外辅导力度，制定切实可行的课外辅导计划，对差生的语法精心地辅导，可利用晚自习或课外活动对学生进行集体辅导。

在下一阶段我将努力工作，认真总结经验教训，力争期终考试同学们能在成绩方面达到一个令家长满意、学校满意的结果。

这一学期来，本人更积极地去了解学生，去摸清学生的学习基础，以便以更好的“因材施教”。在教学中认真备课、上课、听课、评课，及时批改作业、讲评作业，做好课后辅导工作，广泛涉猎各种知识，形成比较完整的知识结构，严格要求学生，尊重学生，发扬教学民主，使学生学有所得，从而不断提高自己的教学水平和思想觉悟，并顺利完成教育教学任务。

下面是本人对一学期教学工作的一个总结：

要提高教学质量，关键是上好课。为了上好课，我做了下面的工作：课前准备，备好课。①认真钻研教材，对教材的基本思想、基本概念，每句话、每个字都弄清楚，了解教材的结构，重点与难点，掌握知识的逻辑，能运用自如，知道应补充哪些资料，怎样才能教好。②了解学生原有的知识技能的质量，他们的兴趣、需要、方法、习惯，学习新知识可能会有哪些困难，采取相应的预防措施。③考虑教法，解决如何把已掌握的教材传授给学生，包括如何组织教材、如何安排每节课的活动。

高一的学生基础比较差,所以在课堂上我尽量用最简易的语言授课,争取让学生能在一定的时间内掌握得最好.在复习过程中是非常枯燥的,所以课堂上激发学生学习英语的兴趣尤为重要.兴趣是最好的老师，有了兴趣，学生就会产生求知欲，视学习为乐趣，而不是负担。只有在教学中培养学生的学习兴趣，增强教学效果，才能避免在以后的学习中产生两极分化。英语课堂既是吸取知识的主战场，又是内化技能的练兵所，但有限的时间无法使学生们充分把这些技能和知识据为己有并消化吸收。利用一定的时间复习巩固已学知识，训练相应技能是提高学习效率不可或缺的重要组成部分。我的具体做法是把语言教学与日常生活联系起来，上课结合时事、热点，给学生讲有关政治、历史、社会等各方面的新闻、幽默等。课后做到多和学生交流接触，了解学生的需要，以及他们对课堂上知识的掌握程度.并且在课后还布置学生专门做一些综合能力的作业.比如说一天一篇阅读理解和一篇完型填空.而且我在教学中会认真设计相应的课后练习，让学生达到学以致用;如果课堂所学的是一些基本的语言点，我就会给学生一些相应的训练，让学生巩固课堂所学知识，并懂得如何在实际中应用;如果课堂教学的是阅读课，我会给出一些关键词，让学生复述课文。没有课后练习的复习巩固，学习效果会大打折扣，效率就提不高。讲课生动有趣我在讲课时，尽量讲得生动有趣，在完成教学任务的同时，经常给学生穿插一些英文歌曲、脱口秀、趣闻、幽默故事、名言名句的仿拟等，来激发学生的学习兴趣。另外一些英文歌曲也是学生感兴趣的，如：后街男孩、辣妹、超级男孩、西城男孩、美国民歌等，教师可以印制一些歌词，在歌词中留出一些空白让学生一边听，一边填写，一边模仿，既练习了口语听力，也提高了学生学习的兴趣。课后我积极参与听课、评课，虚心向同行学习教学方法，博采众长，提高教学水平。培养多种兴趣爱好，到图书馆博览群书，不断扩宽知识面，为教学内容注入新鲜血液

这一学期来，阅读在英语特别是考试中占的比例很大。而本人所教的两个班的学生阅读能力都不是特别好。在今后阅读理解的复习是一个重点，复习时我应注意到了以下几点：

1.提高学生的阅读量大。阅读速度要求每分钟45个词以上。

2让其训练的题材应多样化。包括日常生活、风俗习惯、人物传记、文化教育、社会、史地、科技、政治、经济等内容。不能只局限于某种题材。

3体裁多样化。包括说明文、记叙文、议论文、应用文等。

4.让其了解阅读理解的主要题型。

5.掌握必要的阅读理解解题技巧。

本学期，我担任初二1班和初二8班两个班级的语文教学工作，现将本学期的工作总结如下：

一、本学期教学工作的主要做法

1、关注每一个孩子的进步和提高。课堂上，关注每一个孩子的学习习惯和学习状态，鼓励孩子，尽可能让更多的孩子参与到课堂活动中来。

8、认真学习，不断提高教学水平。教学中积极进行听评课学习，学习教研组内老师们先进的教育、教学理论，探索适合自己的教育教学方式。

二、下学期工作需要改进和加强的地方

1、加强写作练习。以周记本为载体，根据训练重点，利用晚自习、练字时间、课堂进行片段训练，并进行重点指导。

2、课堂上注重加强对学生的阅读能力训练和口语表达训练，给学生提供更多的阅读机会和展示自我的机会，以提高学生的阅读能力和表达能力。

3、强化书法练习。注重实效，不定期抽查个别书写差的同学的练习进行面批指导。

4、发挥大作文的引导作用。重视每次大作文的示范作用，批改好每一次大作文作业，强化孩子的写作技巧的引导，从质上提高孩子的写作水平。

5、开展读书活动。利用好图书角、主题阅读丛书等资源，加强课外阅读训练，摘抄阅读笔记，开展读书交流展示等活动，丰富知识，培养语文素养。

6、做好个别辅导、差生转化工作，对这部分同学分配固定任务，进行有计划的辅导。

一方面自己的专业知识和教授四级考经验比较有限，在讲授四级备考相关知识中不能做到深入和精确，另一方面在教学进度和学生所要求的教学速度上未找到合适的平衡点。这些问题是在新学年中我要努力攻克的，希望能在同事帮助下和自己的努力下使得大学英语的教学更上一个台阶。

在公选课的教学中，我深刻地体会到了和上大学英语课的不同。小班教学需要老师及时了解学生学习的反馈情况，而公选课则是大班上课，强调的是学生对说英语国家文化、社会背景、为人处事方式、思维习惯、影视中表达的观念和影视英语的了解，课堂纪律不如小班教学那么好控制。所以虽然担任的都是英语课的教学，但是要因材施教，学会在不同的课程中转换角色，以期达到良好的教学效果;

总体来说，作为一名大学英语老师，在教学上不能浅尝辄止，要不断探索新的教学方法，了解学生的心理状态，努力提高教学水平。

基本状况概述

按照校园的安排，本人本学期担任高二11、12两个班的英语教学工作，这两个班都是生物平衡班。这一学期来，本人更用心地去了解学生，去摸清学生的学习基础，以便更好地"因材施教"。在教学中认真备课、上课、听课、评课，及时批改作业、讲评作业，做好课后辅导工作，广泛涉猎各种知识，构成比较完整的知识结构，严格要求学生，尊重学生，发扬教学民主，使学生学有所得，从而不断提高自己的教学水平和思想觉悟，并顺利完成教育教学任务。

主要做法和成绩

为了迎接广东省高中教学水平评估，本人这一学期认真学习新课程标准改革的有关理念，结合我校英语科组的教学理念，在英语课堂教学中完全遵循新课标的要求，对学生实施素质教育，关注学生的情感，做到以学生为主体，全面提高学生的语言素养，并以身作则，透过各种渠道学习新的知识，更新自身的知识体系，也为学生的终身学习树立了很好的榜样。另外，由于从本学期开始，校园引进了两名外籍教师，这也更好地激发了学生学习英语的兴趣。为了鼓励学生，我经常找学生了解两名外教所上的英语口语课，不放过任何一次能够表扬学生的机会，学生的英语学习热情也空前高涨。另外，我还创设各种情景，鼓励学生大胆地使用英语，对他们在学习过程中的失误和错误采取宽容的态度。为学生带给自主学习和直接交流的机会，以及充分表现和自我发展的一个空间。鼓励学生透过体验、实践、合作、探索等方式，发展听、说、读、写的综合潜力。创造条件让学生能够探究他们自己的一些问题，并自主解决问题。

问题与不足

当然，也有一部分学生的英语基础还相当薄弱，也以前有学生要求为他们找家教;有些学生还没有找到比较适合自己的学习方法。另外，本人对新课标的理解依然停留在初级阶段，有时候在对新教材的处理上还存在一些理解不到位的地方。

今后努力方向

新课程改革不是纸上谈兵，今后我务必要与实践相结合，努力学习，用心进取，用心参与课程改革，在课改中不断学习，不断实践，不断反思，愿与新课程共同成长。
