《边城》的开头：“有一小溪，溪边有座白色小塔，塔下住了一户单独的人家，边城读后感1500字。这人家只一个老人，一个女孩子，一只黄狗。小溪流下去，绕山岨流，约三里便汇入茶峒的大河，人若过溪越小山走去，则一只里路就到了茶峒城边。溪流如弓背，山路如弓弦，故远近有了小小差异。小溪宽约二十丈，河床为大-片石头作成。静静的水即或深到一篙不能落底，却依然清澈透明，河中游鱼来去皆可以计数。”在如今的城市里，这种现象几乎绝迹，所以不难看出，作者沈从文对这种安静祥和的农村生活有着很深的感情以及对此的怀念。

在《边城》里面让我们看到的是人的淳朴、勤俭、友善、和平的景象。“管理这渡船的，就是住在塔下的那个老人。活了七十年，从二十岁起便守在这溪边，五十年来不知把船来去渡了多少年。年纪虽那么老了，本来应当休息了，但天不许他休息，他仿佛不能够同这一分生活离开，他从不思索自己的职务对于本人的意义，只是静静的很忠实的在那里活下去。”在写到主人公翠翠的时候是：“自然既长养她且教育她，故天真活泼，处处俨然如一只小兽物。人又那么乖，如山头黄鹿一样，从不想到残忍事情，从不发愁，从不动气。平时在渡船上遇陌人对她有所注意时，便把光光的眼睛瞅着那陌人，作成随时皆可举步逃入深山的神气，但明白了人无机心后，就又从从容容的在水边玩耍了。”让人称奇的那只小狗格外显得乖巧、懂事：有时又与祖父黄狗一同在船上，过渡时与祖父一同动手，船将岸边，祖父正向客人招呼：“慢点，慢点时”，那只黄狗便口衔绳子，最先一跃而上。

无论是人，还是动物或是植物，好像周围一切的一切都是美丽而又宁静的，但“悲剧就是把美好的东西打碎给别人看”，

这又好像是为了衬托后来翠翠的不幸遭遇。所以说不同的人不同时间读同一部作品会有不同的感受。

本应该是圆满美好的家庭，在母亲与父亲相聚无从实现而前后离世下，翠翠从小就过着与爷爷相依为命的生活，他们的孤单与悲凉时不时的涌流心头。其中，还让我们看到不幸的是，大老在水中淹死;二老离家出走;与翠翠朝暮相处的爷爷，又在雷鸣夜晚中悄悄离世……这一切的发生，无疑是对翠翠惨痛的打击。在《边城》结尾，作者想通过二老“也许明天回来”来点燃翠翠心灵的一时希望。但“这个人也许永远不回来了”又岂不是给她一种无限的困惑、迷茫吗?作者最后留给我们的看似矛盾的问题，恐怕只有作者一个人才能回答了。
